Parashat Korach (Numbers 16:1\u201318:32.) tells of Korach’s, accompanied by Datan and Aviram, failed attempt to overthrow Mosheh. Joining them are 250 distinguished members of the community, offering ketoret-incense, to prove their worthiness for the priesthood. The earth opens up and swallows them, and fire consumes the ketoret<\/em>. G\u2011d commands that a terumah<\/em> \u201cuplifting\u201d from each crop of grain, wine and oil, as well as all firstborn sheep and cattle, and other specified gifts, to be given to the Kohanim<\/em>-priests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Midrash tells us \u201cTwo husbands listened to their evil wives\u201d. They were both rich, Korach was Jewish, Haman was not Jewish. Each had a downfall. Korach\u2019s wife advised him to rebel against Mosheh, he listened to her and persuaded two hundred and fifty man to join him. He and his family were destroyed. Zeresh, Haman\u2019s wife advised him to \u201cbuild a gallows fifty amos high and hang Mordechai on it\u201d, he listened to her, and he himself was hung on the very same gallows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
