The Month of Elul
Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi compared the month of Elul to a king visiting his peasants in the field before returning to his palace.
Recently I’ve discovered blogging and fell in love. The idea that my concepts, thoughts and teachings might be helpful, comforting or even inspire someone brings me great joy. I plan to Blog about life, Judaism, facts, philosophy, truths, lies and every thing that comes to mind, in a contemporary, simple way. Grab a cup of coffee and make yourself at home.

Forgiveness means different things to different people. Generally, however, it involves a decision to let go of resentment and thoughts of revenge. The act that hurt you might always be with you, but forgiveness can lessen its grip on you and help free you from the control of the person who harmed you. Forgiveness can even lead to feelings of understanding, empathy and compassion for the one who hurt you. Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting or excusing the harm done to you or making up with the person who caused the harm. Forgiveness brings a kind of peace that helps you go on with life.
The High Holidays, known as the Yamim Noraim / ימים נוראים “Days of Awe” season begins during the month of Elul, when the shofar is sounded every weekday morning, a call to return to God.

Jewish-Ness definition is the quality of being Jewish. Ness in Hebrew means a miracle. I like to define Jewish-Ness as miraculous Jews, as it feels like we’re being led by divine intervention. I’ll do my best to share some meaningful, Fundamental Jewish-Ness related content.
Shalom, my name is Yakira Yedidia, I’m a singer / songwriter, teacher, wife, mother (not necessarily in this order) and this is my very first blog. Much like the people that populate the State of Israel, Israeli culture is a melting pot of many different music styles from around the world, full of ethnic, soulful, colorful melodies and rhythms. Growing up in Israel, influenced me tremendously as a musician with my song writings, music arrangements style and more.
